Sally’s – ON Cloudventure Review

The Cloudventure is marketed as the ‘Ultimate lightweight trail running shoe’. Its sole is micro-engineered with 4 levels of grip to combat the changing weather and terrain. I have owned a pair of Cloudventures for most of the club winter and summer cross-country seasons so the weather has certainly been changeable! The grip has been incredible over a variety of terrain; wet and muddy trails, forest tracks and roots, chalky paths of the South Downs, grass; I was amazed by the lightweight yet stability of the shoe. I did have concerns about stones getting stuck in the pods on the bottom of the shoe, but this hasn’t happened to date.
The Cloudventure has a speed board which allows the shoe to be used on the road and pods to absorb shock, especially for downhill running, and to give cushioning. Over the winter months, I also ran the 20 mile Meon Valley Plod, 20 mile Marlborough Downs and QEPark half marathon. All of these races are hilly and I was pleased to have the cushioning and great grip over the more rugged terrain. I also ran the South Downs Way relay which consisted of a team of 6 running 3x approx.10k legs over the duration of a day to complete the length from Eastbourne to Winchester. Having light, comfortable shoes made the experience much more enjoyable.
The toe box is a good size for slightly wider feet, they have now started to become threadbare where my bunion meets the side of the shoe. This is the only part that has worn in the time and distance I have been running in them.
So any runners looking for a lightweight trail shoe with full cushioning protection, the Cloudventure is for you.
