The Maverick Summit Festival

CULDEN FAW ESTATE

Maverick Race and Jimmy’s Iced Coffee are proud to present to you the Summit Festival at Culden Faw Estate. If you want the most epic festival atmosphere coupled with great running then this is an event you cannot miss.

Our festival is designed to bring our runners together to celebrate, eat, drink and, of course, race! You’ll need to bring a tent and camping gear and tickets are available for both runners and spectators (under 12s go for free). You’ll get a free beer on entry as well as having the opportunity to buy food and drink from our amazing vendors.

There will be 2 race routes to choose from, each at around 8km and you will be aiming to run as many loops as you can in 6 hours. You’ll be able to enter our race in one of three categories; Solo (just you and your running shoes), Pairs (hand over to a mate when you need a break!), or Team Entry (4 runners to spread the load). Whatever you choose, the atmosphere will inspire you and the music is sure to drive you to the finish.

But this is a Maverick event and, as you know, we don’t do things by halves. We’ve teamed up with Jimmy’s Iced Coffee to bring you the Jimmy’s Hill Challenge – what could be more entertaining than a hill sprint with a huge Slip ‘n’ Slide back down?!

As you kick off your running shoes, we kick off the evening with our amazing first act, Famous First Words… Not heard about them? You’re going to want to take a look at this. Our next act, Norman Jay MBE, needs no introduction and with his smooth grooves you’re sure to be in the party mood. Finally, for our headline act, we’re insanely excited to welcome The Cuban Brothers to our stage! They’ve played some huge festivals in their time, and we know you will just be in awe.

There will be plenty more to keep you entertained throughout the weekend including inspirational words from our guest speaker, inov-8 ambassador Nicky Spinks, an outdoor cinema, a climbing wall for kids and grown-ups, yoga classes, Sneaker Pimping Station, sponsors and trade stands, a giant hay bale castle, a kids’ fun loop and a mini assault course.

Runners: how you decide to tackle the Summit Festival 6 hour endurance race is up to you! It’s as simple as this:
– Choose between the 2 routes, each around 8km
– Sign up as a solo, pair or team of 4 (we’d recommend a team of 4, great for serious runners & fun runners)
– The team/individual with the most coloured wrist bands (given at the end of each chip timed loop) will win the coveted Maverick & Jimmy’s Trophy.

We really look forward to seeing you at the Maverick & Jimmy’s Summit Festival.

Maverick Inov8 X-Series – Exmoor

LYNTON

New for 2018, we have added a beast of a route. This is the toughest Inov-8 X Series route on our calendar, with over 2300m of elevation, it’s 300m higher than the Inov-8 Snowdonia X Series event! That should give you some idea of the challenge that awaits you here in Devon.

We are sending you along part of The South West Coast Path which is England’s longest waymarked long-distance footpath and a National Trail. It stretches for 630 miles (1,014 km), running from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset. Since it rises and falls with every river mouth, it is also one of the more challenging trails. The total height climbed has been calculated to be 114,931 ft (35,031 m), almost four times the height of Mount Everest

The route starts at Caffyns Farm and heads along the coast path at Lynton, you will be met with towering cliffs and stunning sea views across to South Wales. Soak up the stunning sounds of seabirds nesting on the cliffs. As you venture along the coast you will enter the valley of rocks, a superb section of coast path well know for its herds of feral goats. This section is among the oldest Devonian rocks in north Devon and is highly fossil ferrous.

As you continue on your way you will become lost in the splendour. We take you to Foreland Point, a rocky headland which is the most northerly point along the Devon and Exmoor coastline.

The route then sweeps back inland towards some special forested sections that make you feel like you’re back in the heart of Devon. One stand out area is Watersmeet, we know you will be enchanted by this section of the route. There are many other hidden gems on the Exmoor X Series event, we don’t want to spoil it too much for you, so come and join us! The outdoors awaits…
